Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
